A little about Mrs. Buck!!
Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Lindsay Miller Buck, and I am most excited about being your child’s teacher! I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with you and your child this year, and consider it a blessing to be a part of your life. I was born and raised here in Savannah and received both my B.S. in Early Childhood Education and my Masters in Education (M.Ed.) from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and completed the Chatham County Gifted Endorsement Program to earn my gifted endorsement. This will be my seventh year teaching 4th grade in the Savannah-Chatham County School System! I LOVE FOURTH GRADE!
(Scroll down to see some pictures of my family's sweet Golden Retriever, Bella (who sadly passed away a year ago! We miss her!), my miniature long-haired dachshund, Quin, and my sister's long-haired dachshund, Hazel Mae!)
As a teacher, I want to create a warm, comfortable, and nurturing environment where all children can learn skills and concepts that will prepare them to continue on their educational path with confidence and competency. I want to encourage curiosity and creativity, as well as encourage and develop the strengths of each child through a child-centered, hands-on learning environment. I believe children have the right to their own active involvement in learning by interacting with their peers, environment, and the teachers. Many in-school activities and at-home projects have been planned to help you get the most out of fourth grade! It will be a great year!
Every student has the right to learn in a comfortable, non-threatening environment. In an effort to ensure that this environment exists, the rules and procedures for operation in our classroom will be sent home with your child during the first week of school. School-wide and district rules can be found in the school handbook.
My expectations for your child are high, but I have no doubt that all of my students are capable of reaching or even surpassing them. Fourth grade is an important stepping stone on the path to higher education. A good work ethic is important to your child’s success in meeting those objectives. I will expect each student to put forth his or her best effort.
Because e-mail is the best way to stay in contact for me, feel free to e-mail me at Lindsay.Buck@sccpss.com. I will do my best to remember to check voicemail daily; however, since it takes so long to check (the automated system makes you listen to several options before you can get into your voicemail), I sometimes run out of time during the school day to check messages, which is why I recommend e-mail over voicemail.
We realize that you have entrusted us with your precious gift… the responsibility of loving and teaching your child. Students, I challenge you to seize the opportunity offered to you this year and make the most of it! Your parents, guardians, and I will assist you and provide support every step of the way!
IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE AT HESSE ELEMENTARY!!
